I am thinking about doing something like the growing up online video we watched, but I’m not sure to what extent. It might be interesting to just do a review of different studies that have looked at it, or to maybe enter some teen chat rooms and talk to some people directly? I’m not sure, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think entering a chat room and talking to people would be really interesting. What type of chat room would you want to enter? And would you pose as a teenager or be yourself. That could open a whole bunch of doors to different spins. What specifically interested you about growing up online? Perhaps you could focus on that idea and then discuss more briefly other topics.

I encourage you to pursue this topic, but keep in mind that conducting research with people under age 18 is probably not going to be approved by the IRB, so look for secondary sources to support your paper. You’ll need a thesis statement… is youth online culture good/bad/ugly? What specifically do you want to examine?
